1- Colpan Ilhan’s Family Background

Colpan had a Turkish family background, she was the sister of renowned poet and writer Attila Ilhan and the wife of Sadri Alisik who was also the most acclaimed actor of Turkey cinema. She got married and stayed with him in the year 1959. They had a child named Kerem Alisik who is also an actor.

2- Her Educational Background

She got her secondary education from Istanbul Kandilli High School for Girls. Afterward, she studied theatre at Istanbul Municipal Drama School and painting at State Academy of Istanbul for Fine Arts.

3- She Founded Her Own Theatre Group

Colpan Ilhan established her own theatre group for amateurs and named it ‘ Akademi Tiyatrosu’ (Academy Theatre) and started prepared plays and dramas with her fellows.

4- Her Debut Movie

She made her debut film named ‘Kamelyali Kadin’ which was released in the year 1957. The movie was an adaptation to the movies of ( The Lady Of The Camellias). Colpan gave a fabulous performance in her role and applauded by millions of audience.

5- Her First Professional Play

In 1957, she acted in her first professional play named ‘Sevgili Golge’ which means ‘Dear Shadow’. TIn the play, she featured with Munir Ozkul and Ugur Basaran at Kucuk Sahne (Little Scene) Theatre. She acted for three years in that theatre.

6- She Has Acted In Many Plays

Colpan Ilhan performed in various plays including ‘Tersine Donen Semsiye’, with Mufit Ofluogo and Sabahattin Kudret Aksal at Oda Chamber Theatre. She then worked along with Kent Oyunculari in the play of GUner Sumer called ‘Yarin Cumartesi. Also, she acted at Kenterler Theatre in many plays, such as; ‘Baharin Sesi’, ‘Nalinlar’ and ‘Aptal Kiz’.

7- She Took A Gap In Theatre

At her own childbirth, she took a break in her Theatre career. Starting from the mid-1960s, she has returned to her acting career with movies and acted in more than 300 movies and plays till the 1970s. later on, she left the Turkish cinema and started to focus on fashion designing.

8- Awards And Honors

She was a victor of many accolades and she received the title of ‘State Artist of Turkey’ by the Turkish Ministry Of Culture’.  Also, she was the founder of the Sadri Alisik Cultural Centre.
