She was born in Denizli as the third child of Benan and Oktay Iybar. Her family was in Denizli at the time on account of the obligation of his granddad as the head of the equity office in the city. Her dad was a journalist and photographer. She has two elder siblings, Sedef and Kemal. As her folks were isolated when she was 13, she and her mom and grandma moved to Istanbul in 1972.
