Jamshad Cethirakath is better known for his stage name, Arya. He is an Indian actor and producer who mostly appears in Tamil cinema. He earned the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for his work. Arya received two nominations each for Filmfare Awards and Vijay Awards. The Forbes India Celebrity 100 added him in 2015, a list based on the top-grossing Indian celebrities.

Arya made his breakthrough by portraying rogue characters in Kalisunte and Pattiyal. He later won critical acclaim for playing an Aghori in Nenu Devudini (2009). Arya gained further commercial success with the release of the period drama 1947 A Love Story (2010), the comedy film Boss Engira Bhaskaran (2010), and Atlee’s family film Raja Rani (2013).

In 2013, he appeared in three more Tamil films: comedy film Settai, action thriller Arrambam and fantasy film Irandam Ulagam. In 2021, he appeared in the sports film Sarpatta Parambarai (2021) as the major lead, which earned him high critical acclaim. He also collaborated with veteran director Sundar C., with acted in a horror comedy film Aranmanai 3 (2021) alongside Sakshi Agarwal.

He completed his education in SBOA Matriculation and Higher Secondary School and then earned an engineering degree from Crescent Engineering College. His younger brother, Shahir Cethirakath aka Sathya, has also appeared in Tamil films.

Arya took part in the Vätternrundan Motala cycle race and won a medal. He was the future bridegroom on the show Enga Veetu Mapillai aired on Colors Tamil, looking for a perfect bride from the 16 contestants.
