Bradley Darryl Wong aka BD Wong is an American actor. He is best known for winning a Tony Award for his performance as Song Liling in M. Butterfly. He became the only actor in Broadway history to receive the Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, Clarence Derwent Award, and Theatre World Award for the same role in David Henry Hwang’s play.
Career
BD Wong received nominations for a Critic’s Choice Television Award for his role as Whiterose in the drama-thriller series Mr. Robot (TV series, 2015–19). He earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his performance in the series.
He is best known for his roles as Dr. George Huang on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (TV series, 2001–2021) and Father Ray Mukada on Oz, Dr. John Lee on Awake (2012). He appeared in the Jurassic Park franchise (1993), Gotham (TV series, 2016–2019), and Seven Years in Tibet (1997). Wong is the host of the medical documentary series Something’s Killing Me with BD Wong (2017).
The documentary explores strange and unexplainable, real medical ailments and attacks that may be gradual or descend rapidly. But in either case, if someone does not find immediately a cause and cure, these real-life patients will die.
BD Wong has also done major voiceover work and stage acting. The best known of his voice acting roles is that of Captain Li Shang from the Disney animated film Mulan (1998). He later reprised this role twice for the sequel, Mulan II (2004). He voiced the same role as Captain Li Shang in the video game Kingdom Hearts II (2005) and the Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix+ (2007).
In 2003, he earned the GLAAD Media Award in the category of Davidson/Valentini Award and Best Shorts Competition for Voice-Over Talent (2013).
