Boris Kodjoe is a famous Austrian-born American actor, producer, and former model. He is best known for his roles as Kelby in the film Brown Sugar (2002), Damon Carter on the Showtime drama series Soul Food (TV series, 2000-04), and a recurring character on The Last Man on Earth (TV series, 2015).
Career
He co-stars on the reality television parody Real Husbands of Hollywood (2013-16) and the Grey’s Anatomy (TV series, 2005) spin-off, Station 19 (TV series, 2018). His parents separated when he was 6 years old and grew up near Freiburg im Breisgau. He has a brother, Patrick, and two sisters, Nadja and Lara.
Boris Kodjoe studied at the Virginia Commonwealth University on a tennis scholarship and earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 1996. In 1995, TLC featured him in the music video for Red Light Special.
Tied for third in double achievements with 66, however, a back injury ended his tennis dreams. His brother Patrick Kodjoe played for VCU’s basketball team. But he quickly signed as a model and soon after entered acting. In 2002, People magazine listed him as one of the “50 Most Beautiful People in the World”.
He played the role of David Taylor in the film The Gospel in October 2005. Boris Kodjoe also performed in a play called Whatever She Wants (2008) and appeared on the fifth season of Nip/Tuck (TV series, 2003-10). He played a supporting role in the science fiction film Surrogates (2009).
In 2012, he joined the cast as a regular on Susannah Grant’s TV series Members Only (TV series, 2014–15, but the show never publish.
