David Alan Tyler, a British businessman, the chairman of Domestic and General. Also, he is a former chairman of Sainsbury’s Logica, and Hammerson, and a former CFO of GUS. He has done Masters in 1977. He is currently living in London with his wife Margaret Fingerhut.
Career
Tyler joined Unilever in 1974 as a management trainee. He worked at Birds Eye, Wall’s Ice Cream, BOCM Silcock, and Unilever’s London headquarters, working on corporate strategy and agribusiness. Tyler is a CIMA-qualified management accountant.
During 1986-1989, he worked for National Westminster Bank as group financial controller and finance director of NatWest Investment Bank, before being recruited as group finance director (CFO).
GUS acquired Argos and many Experian businesses during this period and divested a number of other businesses. Finally, it was split into three UK-listed companies – Burberry, Experian, and Home Retail Group.
Additionally, Tyler was chairman of Hampstead Theatre from 2012 to 2020 and chairman of The White Company from 2020 to date.
