Lena Waithe (born on May 17, 1984) in Chicago, U.S. She is an American actress, producer, and writer.
Career
She played the role of Camille Hallaway in the drama series The Chi (2018–present) and was the creator of the drama. Lena Waithe is the writer of the comedy series Boomerang from 2019 to 2020. She also created the comedy series Twenties (2020–present).
She also wrote and produced the crime film Queen & Slim (2020) and is the managing producer of the horror drama series Them (2021–present).
Lena Waithe earned recognition for her role in Denise in the Netflix comedy-drama series Master of None (2015–present). Waithe wrote the show’s “Thanksgiving” episode, which was almost based on her personal experience of coming out to her mother.
In 2017, she became the first black woman to win the Primetime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. Lena Waithe has also starred Helen Harris in the adventure film Ready Player One (2018), directed by Steven Spielberg. She played the role of Ash in the Westworld HBO TV series.
Waithe is one of the Most Influential People of 2018 in Time magazine. She is on the tenth of Fast Company’s Queer 50 list in 2021. She won the Black Film Critics Circle Awards, for Best Original Screenplay “Queen & Slim”.
