Momo Hirai aka Momo (born on November 9, 1996) in Kyōtanabe, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. She is a Japanese singer, dancer, and rapper.
Career
She lives in South Korea and is a member of the South Korean girl group named Twice, established by JYP Entertainment. Twice has three Japanese members including Momo. She started dancing at three, together with her older sister, named Hana Hirai. Hirai is the surname in the Japanese name. She started her career in 2015. Before starting her singing career, she had some early publicity for the South Korean music industry. In 2008, Momo appeared in a music video for Lexy and in the talent show Superstar K 2011. JYP Entertainment initially spotted her and her older sister Hana in an online video in 2012. They were both asked to audition, but only Momo passed the audition and advised her to move to South Korea in April 2012. Before joining the group Twice, Momo danced in several music videos as a “K-Pop trainee”. She took part in the South Korean reality TV show: Sixteen, hosted by JYP Entertainment in 2015. Yet, they eliminated her from the competition and brought her back at the end of the competition. Later she joined the newly formed girl group Twice. In the same year, Momo officially debuted as a member of Twice with their first EP, The Story Begins, followed by the lead single “Like Ooh-Ahh” on October 20.
