1. Consider Himself as An Old Warrior

As we’ve seen, Ray thrives in the sword and sorcery/swashbuckler genre. He considers himself an old warrior by heart these days, slinging swords and shooting muskets in every other project. [1]

2. Interior Designer

Ray stated in one of his interviews that he used to work as an interior designer in architectural practice, earning a living through structural and spatial design. That is until he met an Australian actor looking for representation in London. [2]

3. Always Wanted To Be an Actor

He also stated that he has always wanted to pursue a career in acting, but he has never told anyone about his ambitions. Perhaps because he was too shy to tell anyone about his dreams.

When asked if he feels he has to make up for lost time because he entered the business later, he says no. The actor responds with a witty remark, stating that “things happened at the right time.” Also, he is relieved that he did not begin his career at the age of 18 or 19, as he would have been too young.

As previously stated, he met an Australian actor while working as an interior designer. His suggestion to Stevenson was to enroll in evening drama classes. Stevenson was terrified to try it at the age of 25, but he mustered the courage.

Because his father was a Royal Air Force pilot, he had to switch to many different locations as part of his job. Ray moved to England with his family when he was eight years old, first to the Lemington area of Newcastle upon Tyne and then to Seaton Delaval.

He is best known for his roles as “Dagonet’ in the 2004 film “King Arthur” and “Titus Pullo” in the BBC/HBO television series “Rome” (2005–2007). His performances in those films were completely outstanding and well worth seeing.
