Sarita Choudhury is an English actress. She is best known for her role as Mina in the Mira Nair-directed feature film Mississippi Masala (1991) opposite Denzel Washington. The film earned her Screen Actors Guild (SAG) card. Since the late 1990s and continuing to the present day, she has added to her major collection, performing many supporting roles in American and international films and TV shows.
Her 1990s films include the comedy film Wild West (1992), The House of the Spirits (1993), The Perez Family (1995), A Perfect Murder (1998), and remake Gloria (1999). In 2001, she appeared in Lee Davis’s film 3 A.M. She then starred in Just a Kiss in 2002. Choudhry played a lesbian virgin in Spike Lee’s She Hate Me (2004).
Sarita Choudhry’s other film credits include Lady in the Water (2006), The Accidental Husband (2008), and For Real (2009). She also played Egeria in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay in parts 1 and 2. She co-starred with Tom Hanks in the film A Hologram for the King (2016). Recently, she joined the cast of HBO Max’s Sex and the City revival television series And Just Like That…, playing the part of Manhattan powerhouse real estate broker Seema Patel.
Sarita Choudhry is half Indian and half English origin. The daughter of Julia Patricia and Prabhas Chandra Choudhury. She attended Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, where she studied economics and film. She has two brothers named Kumar Michael Choudhury and Chandra Paul Choudhury.
