Travis Barker was born on November 14, 1975 and is a very popular American musician. He is widely popular because he plays the drum for the rock band Blink-182. He’s a member of the rap-rock Transplants (band), co-founded the rock band +44, and joined Box Car Racer, Antemasque, and Goldfinger. Career

Barker found interest in drumming from a very young age. He started his musical odyssey in 1996 with The Aquabats before transitioning to Blink-182 in 1998.

Moving in Blink-182 was game changer for him which driven him into the mainstream spotlight with Enema of the State (1999).

Barker’s talent as a drummer led to collaborations and guest appearances across various music genres, including hip-hop, alternative rock, pop, and country.

Beyond music, he starred in the MTV reality series Meet the Barkers and authored a memoir titled Can I Say: Living Large, Cheating Death, and Drums, Drums, Drums (2015). He is also a vegan and invested in the vegan restaurant Crossroads Kitchen in Los Angeles.

Early life and education

At the age of 4, his mother gifted him his first drum kit, igniting his lifelong passion for drumming. His early education in drumming started at 5 with Michael Mai (drummer) who taught him many styles of drumming.

He is a professional surfer and skateboarder but he love the drumming so he went back to drums. During his time at Fontana High School, Barker adopted the drum set in the jazz and snare drum in the marching band. He polished his skills through performances at regional competitions and festivals, developing a strong affinity for hip-hop and punk rock rhythms.

Plane Crash and Recovery

On September 19, 2008, Barker and DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) experienced a life-altering plane crash in Columbia, South Carolina ^[1]. Their private plane, headed for Van Nuys, California suffered a tire blowout during takeoff, leading to a catastrophic crash. Barker and DJ AM were the sole survivors, with personal assistant Chris Baker and security guard Che Still but the two pilots tragically lost their lives.

Travis Barker’s injuries took around 11 weeks in hospitals and burn centers. He underwent 16 surgeries, including blood transfusions and skin grafts. The crash left him with post-traumatic stress disorder, compounded by guilt over Still’s presence on the plane. He is vegan but for a faster recovery of the wounds, he started protein intake for faster healing. Barker initiated a lawsuit against the plane’s owners, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., and an airplane maintenance company, reaching a confidential settlement in December 2009 ^[2].

He married to Melissa Kennedy which lasted nine months and the couple headed for the divorce in August 2002. Afterwards, Barker married Shanna Moakler who is actress and Miss USA 1995 titleholder on October 30, 2004. Barker and Moakler have 2 children, a son & a daughter. But his second marriage with Moakler was marred by turmoil eventually led to divorce in February 2008.
