I am sorting my wardrobe before moving, and the number of almost identical tops has become a problem. I like individual pieces, although their colors do not always work with the trousers that form my everyday outfits. A compact wardrobe appeals to me, provided it allows a few different combinations instead of one repeated outfit. I have started laying clothes together on the bed to distinguish useful combinations from purchases that need extra items. I found a page about color analysis and would like to use the idea as a starting point for these comparisons. Dark blue is easy for me to combine, but I am less certain about cream, rust, and muted pink. Should I settle on a pair of practical neutrals before testing accents, or approach the decision in reverse? I would also like a way to separate an unflattering color from a garment whose cut simply feels wrong. For anyone who has made a smaller wardrobe work, what test helped you choose the pieces worth keeping?
