British folk singer Norma Waterson dies at the age of 82

Norma Waterson a British folk singer died on Sunday, 30 January 2022.
Norma Waterson known as The Watersons from Hull was married to a famous musician and singer Martin Carthy, who has worked Steeleye Span and also with The Watersons.
Norma made her vital figure for English folk along with her siblings Lal & Mike and also her husband Martin Cathy.
Norma Waterson died at age 82. Her brother Mike died 2011 and her sister Lal died in 1998.
Norma was born in 1939 in Hull and was raised by her grandmother. She made a singing group ‘The Watersons’ with her siblings and her cousin John. In an interview Norma explained that her family was established in music.
Waterson said.
“I had an uncle, Harry, who played a musical saw and a one-string fiddle. I had an uncle, Sam, who’d stepdance on the breadboard. I had an uncle, Ronny, who was lead cornet player in the silent cinema — you know, the movies. My grandmother sang,” “And so I suppose it was, you know, just all getting together, making music of some sort. In the genes.”
