The way a data lake works includes gathering data from different sources and placing all the information into one central repository, normally without having to transform it much prior to storage. The sources of data include business applications, databases, websites, clouds, sensor data, interaction with clients, and other resources. Further, the gathered information may be classified, preprocessed, cleaned up, and analyzed based on business needs. This ability to easily gather and store data is one of the main distinctions of a data lake in comparison with conventional data warehouses. There are some standard components in a data lake architecture, such as data ingestion, data storage, data processing, governance, security, and analytics. Thinking about what a data lake is, it may be described as a very flexible and huge storage facility where various kinds of data are stored for possible further usage. Businesses may use data lakes for business intelligence, machine learning, predictive analytics, reporting, and exploratory purposes.
