Maggie Smith acted as Miss Shepherd in the 2015 film The Lady in the Van. Though he denies “caring” for anyone, he slowly realizes his growing friendship with Shepherd. After coming home early from a day center where he sent her, she dies peacefully in her sleep in her van.
