Ai Kayano is a well-known Japanese voice actress. The Pro-Fit talent agency represented Kayano until 2014. Office Osawa represented her in 2015. She played leading roles in several anime series, including Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day (TV series, 2011), Guilty Crown (TV series, 2011), Sword Art Online: Alicization (TV series, 2012), Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend (TV series, 2015), and many more. She has also performed opening, ending, and insert theme songs for each series.

Kayano wanted to work in a job that would require “healing people,” leading to originally taking up a course at a vocational school. She worked in the beauty industry and became interested in acting after watching Aria (TV series, 2005). While attending school, she continued working in the industry and paid for her tuition.

Career

Ai Kayano began working at Pro-Fit in 2010, starring in the original video animation Princess Resurrection (TV series, 2007). She also voiced several background roles in the anime series A Certain Magical Index II (TV series, 2008), playing Itsuwa. She voiced Meiko “Menma” Honma in Onohana: The Flower We Saw That Day (TV series, 2011). For her role as Menma, she received the 6th Seiyu Awards for the Best Newcomer Award in 2012.

Also in 2012, she played Mayaka Ibara in Hyōka. Kayano and co-star Satomi Satō performed the series’ ending topics “Madoromi no Yakusoku” and “Kimi ni Matsuwaru Mystery”. She also played the roles of Mashiro Shiina in The Pet Girl of Sakurasou (TV series, 2012) and Saori Takebe in Girls und Panzer (TV series, 2012).

Kayano played Shiro in No Game No Life (TV miniseries, 2014). She played the series’ ending theme “Oración”. In 2015, she left Pro-Fit and became a freelancer. Also in 2015, she joined Office Osawa. She played Megumi Sakura in School-Live! in 2016 and Utaha Kasumigaoka in Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend.
