Ethel Ana del Rosario Jara Velasquez is a Peruvian lawyer and politician who was Prime Minister of Peru during the period from July 2014 to April 2015.

She was born on 11th May 1968 in Oca. Ana Jara received a high school education from Antonia Moreno de Cáceres School located in the same city. She studied law and Political Science at the Saint Aloysius Gonzaga National University in Ica. She also did Masters in Law Studies and later, she did her P.hd. 

Career

Ana Jara started practicing as a notary public in Ica in 1998. She was secretary of the Mutual Fund of Peruvian Notaries from 2000 to 2001, a member of the Advisory Council of the Zone XI Registry Office (2002 to 2003), and Vice Dean of the College of Notaries of Ica from 2005 to 2006.

After running unsuccessfully for Congresswoman for Ica under Union for Peru in 2006, Jara ran for Governor of Ica a few months later, placing third.

In 2005, Ana Jara was elected to congress as a member of the Nationalist party. Her responsibilities included service on the Board of Directors, the Permanent Commission of the Congress of the Republic, the Audit and Justice Commissions, and the Housing Commission. Likewise, he was president of the Foreign Relations Commission.

The Minister of Women and Social Development was sworn in on 11 December 2011 as part of the second ministerial cabinet of President Ollanta Humala, headed by Scar Valdés. Her office was renamed the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations on 21 January 2012.

Later, on 24 February 2014, she became Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion in Peru under a renewed cabinet whose presidency was assumed by René Cornejo.

However, she made a wider career in the field of politics and is known for her contribution.
