Bonnie Tyler is a popular Welsh singer who is well known for her special husky voice. She gained fame with the release of her album The World Starts Tonight in 1977 and its singles Lost In France and More Than a Lover. She released her single It’s a Heartache in 1978 which reached number four on the UK Singles Chart and number three on the US Billboard Hot 100.

In the 1980s, Bonnie Tyler dared into rock music with songwriter and producer Jim Steinman. He wrote her biggest hit Total Eclipse of the Heart, the lead single UK chart-topping album Faster Than the Speed of Night. Steinman also wrote her other major 1980s hit pop Holding Out for a Hero. She successfully released her song Bitterblue with Dieter Bohlen, who wrote and produced her hit during the 1990s.

In 2003, Tyler re-recorded Total Eclipse of the Heart with Kareen Antonn, a French singer. Their fluent duet, titled Si demain… (Turn Around), topped the French charts.

Bonnie Tyler released her sixteenth studio album Rocks and Honey in 2013 and promotes the single Believe in Me, which she performed representing the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö, Sweden. She released Between the Earth and the Stars (2019) and The Best Is Yet to Come (2021) after reuniting with the producer David Mackay.

Both It’s a Heartache and Total Eclipse of the Heart are among the best-selling singles of all time, with sales of over six million each. She has earned three Grammy Award nominations and three Brit Awards nominations, among other accolades.
