Josh Radnor is a popular American actor, filmmaker, author, and musician. He is best known for portraying Ted Mosby on the popular and Emmy Award-winning sitcom How I Met Your Mother (2005).

He made his writing and directorial debut with the comedy-drama film Happythankyoumoreplease (2010). In 2010, he won the Sundance Film Festival Audience Award and received nominations for the Grand Jury Prize for the film Happythankyoumoreplease.

Career

In 2012, he wrote, directed, and starred in his second comedy-drama film, Liberal Arts, which premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. He portrayed Isaac in the Broadway play Disgraced, which received nominations for the Tony Award for Best Play in 2014.

He then starred as Dr. Jedediah Foster on the PBS American Civil War drama series Mercy Street (TV series, 2016–2017). After that, he starred in the musical series Rise (TV series, 2018), and in Hunters (TV series, 2020). He grew up in a Jewish family and has two sisters.

Josh Radnor attended the Orthodox Jewish day school Columbus Torah Academy before going to Bexley High School and then Kenyon College. His school’s theater department awarded him with the Paul Newman Award.

In 1996, he graduated from Kenyon with a Bachelor of Arts in drama. In 1997, he took part in an Israel experience program in Tzfat with Livnot U’Lehibanot. He then earned his Master of Fine Arts degree in acting from New York University in 1999.

Josh Radnor featured in Rachael Yamagata’s music video Let Me Be Your Girl in 2016. In 2018, he played Seymour Krelborn in the horror-comedy film Little Shop of Horrors. He performed the lead role in The WB series Off Centre (2001). However, the role was re-cast with Eddie Kaye Thomas before the first episode aired.
