The actress Manhua Roychaudhary was considered to be one of the most popular and successful actresses of Bengali cinema. She also won many awards including Filmfare Award.


Roychoudhary was from a lower–middle–class family of Dum Dum. Her father Nilanjan Roy Chowdhury was a dancer. She was inspired by her father. From her childhood, she had a passion for dancing.

She couldn’t complete her studies because of the financial instability of her family. Meanwhile, she debuted with Tarun Majumdar’s Sriman Pritthiraj (1972).

Manhua Roychoudhary also acted with matinee idol Uttam Kumar in the most popular films amongst being Seyi Chokh, Bagh Bondi Khela, and many more that are famous.

Manhua also shared her work with actors like Deepankar De, Santu Mukhopadhyay, Samit Bhanja, Anup Kumar, Tapas Paul, and others.
