Miles Anderson is a British stage and screen actor. He has appeared in television serials both in the United Kingdom and North America. He recently appeared as Alistair, the photographer in the film La La Land in 2016. In 2021 he played Lennox in The Tragedy Of Macbeth with Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand.
He studied at Prince Edward School. He earned the 1982 London Critics’ Circle Drama Theatre Award for Best Supporting Actor of 1981 for his performances in The Twin Rivals.
Anderson Miles has appeared in the US television series Criminal Minds (2005), and the UK series Ultimate Force (2002) in which he played Colonel Aiden Dempsey for the whole of its production. He played Lt. Col. Dan Fortune in the United Kingdom’s first and second series, Soldier Soldier (TV series,1991–92).
He received an Olivier Nomination for his performance as Sigismund in Calderon’s Life is A Dream at the Royal Shakespeare Company. His many performances for television include Fall of Eagles (1974), Z-Cars (1975), and The Sweeney (1978).
He has also appeared in two episodes of Midsomer Murders (1997) entitled Death In Disguise and Last Year’s Model. He voiced Poseidon in the TV adaptation of The Odyssey (1997).
In 2007, he appeared as Daniel Lennon in the sixth series of the crime drama Waking the Dead. In 2008, he made a quick appearance as Edward Tunstall in EastEnders. He also narrated the Sky1 version of the New Zealand documentary The Lion Man (2004) and appeared in an episode of A Touch of Frost (1992).
Anderson Miles appeared as the title character in The Madness of George III (1991), which Adrian Noble directed. He earned the San Diego’s Critics’ Circle award for Best Actor.
In 2011, he played Prospero in Shakespeare’s The Tempest and Salieri in Peter Shaffer’s Amadeus, both Noble directed. In 2013, he again won the San Diego Critic’s Circle Award for his role in Adrian Noble’s production of Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice.
He is an associate member of The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).
