Richard Short is an English actor based in Los Angeles. He is best known for starring in the TV drama series Mary Kills People (2017). Also in 2017, he appeared as Adam in the independent film The Dare and as Smith in Crazy Famous (2016).
Thomas has two sisters, one half-sister, and one-half brother. He grew up in South Shields and studied at Highfield Infants School, then at the Cheviot Junior School. At Brooklands College, Weybridge, Surrey, he studied film and theatre but left college to pursue acting full time at age 20.
Career
On television, he has had recurring roles on Vinyl (2016) and Covert Affairs (2013). His other television credits include American Horror Story (2011), White Collar (2011), and Blue Bloods (2010). He has appeared in over 30 films and television shows in the USA and UK. On Broadway; he played as a member of the 2011 play of Jez Butterworth’s Jerusalem at the Music Box Theatre.
In January 2018, he received the nominations for Best Lead Actor, Drama Series, from the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television for his performance on Mary Kills People (2017–2019).
Richard Short began acting with the Woking Youth Theatre in Woking, Surrey, in 1992 and made his professional stage debut as Johnny in the original UK cast of Grease in 1996. He made his film debut in Tom DiCillo’s American film Delirious (2007).
Also in 2007, he made his American TV debut on Law & Order: Criminal Intent, where he played Dylan. In 2009, he appeared in Michael Mann’s big-budget crime drama Public Enemies. Short also appeared in the 2011 film Choose opposite Kevin Pollak and the HBO series Bored to Death (2009) with Jason Schwartzman.
