Mohammed Amer is a Palestinian- American stand-up comedian and writer. He is best known for his work and contribution to the cinema. He is famous for his comic skills. He is known for appearing in the Netflix comedy special ‘Mo Amer: The Vagabond.

Among others, he gave a well-praised performance in the comedy trio ‘Allah Made Me Funny’, starred in two seasons, alongside comedian Ramy Youssef, in the Hulu sitcom ‘Ramy as Ramy’s a Muslim cousin Mo, who owns a diner. He will appear in the upcoming superhero film ‘Black Adam’.

Amer is of Palestinian descent. He is the youngest of six siblings. His father served as an Engineer at the Kuwait Oil Company. In 1990, he moved to the USA during the Gulf War along with his family. He studied there and did his P.hd in Biochemistry.

Career

At the age of 10,  Amer’s brother took him to see Bill Cosby’s performance at the Houston Astrodome. At the age of 14, Mohammad Amer took interest in stand-up comedy.

In 1999, M. Amer joined the contest wherein he entered Houston’s Funniest Person Contest and appeared in the finals. There another well-known comedian guided him to The Comedy Showcase as the best-guided comedy room. And Danny Martinez mentored and suggested to think about stand-up comedy.

At 19, Amer was fled to play to US troops stationed abroad. At the time, he became the first and only Arab- American refugee comic who performed for the USA and coalition troops overseas.

Moreover, Amer also performed in more than 27 countries on five continents including Italy, Sicily, Japan, Korea, Germany, and many others. He also performed with many Muslim comedians, such as; Azhar Usman, and others.
