1. Almost Died While Shooting “The Mummy”

Fraser’s most famous part is likely Rick O’Connell, the dashing protagonist of The Mummy, yet he nearly died during making the film. O’Connell is sentenced to death by hanging in an early scene in the film. The scene, however, went tragically wrong. “They killed me for 18 seconds,” Fraser claimed of the encounter. ^[1]

2. Dedicated Actor

Fraser plays a morbidly fat guy in 2022’s The Whale. Fraser’s body was fully changed using makeup and prosthetics to obtain a very lifelike appearance. This necessitated the use of body suit pieces weighing up to 300 pounds at times. ^[2]

The long-running reality shows America’s Most Wanted has actors reenacting atrocities. Brendan Fraser’s first role on the show was as a buddy of murder victim Rodney Mark Peterson in 1988.
