Pasupathy is an actor, hailing from India- born on 5th September 1967 at Chennai, India. He works in the Tamil film industry and is mainly known for his amazing performances in noted movies. Also, he is famous for his versatility as he played supporting roles, antagonist roles, humorous and comic roles as well. He also made his career in Telugu and Malayalam cinema and appeared in various movies.
Career
In 1984, he worked with the Chennai-based theatre group “Koothy-P-Pattarai” where he worked for 15 months, 1997. He grew up and studied there until he started working in movies. He appeared in various movies and made his career in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam cinema. Pasupathy got his first role in the movie named “Virumaandi” in which he played the role of Kothaala Theyar. He later appeared in negative roles in several notable movies, such as; “Sultan”, “Dhool”, “Thirupaachi”. And others.
Later, he moved into comedy and started playing comic roles in movies, like; “Mumbai Xpress”, “Majaa” as well. He played as a lead for the first time in the movie named “Veyyil” which earned the National Film Award.
He also played lead roles in other movies like; “Raman Thediya Seethai” in which he played the role of a blind radio jockey.
While in a period-based action drama “Arayaan” he played the role of Komboodhi who was the warrior head of a town in the 18th Century. For this role, he got trained in the gym for six months.
In 2013, he worked in the Tamil movie named “Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara for which he earned critical acclaim. Also, he appeared in an English movie named “The last Version”.
However, there is more to his career that he has done to make himself an established person and a successful actor.
Achievements
He won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for the performance in the movie “E” in 2006. Also, he won a Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Supporting Actor. In 2008, he earned an award of ITFA for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the movie “Kuselan”.
