- Iyer says he believes he deserves the big paycheck. “I deserve it. I had done well in the Ranji season, so I was expecting Rs 60 to Rs 70 lakh, but not Rs 2.6 crore.
- A footballer in his younger days, Iyer clearly picked the right sport after he was made to chose by his father. Also a self proclaimed part-time spinner, the 20-year old is now seen as a front-runner for the Emerging Player Award this IPL season.
- Lyer was first spotted by Pravin Amre, an accomplished coach, at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana and trained him in his early days.
