74 years-old actress, Surekha, is a well-to-do status holder and a well-reputed lady. Her gorgeous personality is ever-green like her acting skills.

She belongs to a versatile family. When she opened her eyes, she found her mother as a teacher. Her father was in the Air force and it was the basic factor that developed self-confidence in her too due to inheritance.

She got happily married to Hemant Rege who unfortunately died of a heart attack after a couple of years. She has a son who is an artist in Mumbai. After the death of her husband, she remained erected through this downhearted situation. But she proved herself the strong woman and brought up her son on her own.

She is far away from a family member of Naseeruddin Shah, a renowned superstar. Surekha’s step-sister was the ex-wife of Shah and the mother of Heeba Shah. Heeba is the very actress who appeared in the drama serial Balika Vadhu.

 Career

Her first debut was made in 1978. Afterward, she pursued to get more roles in several movies. She has also contributed to Malayalam movies which have made her more distinctive and impressive. Due to her masterly talent and skillful acting, she made her way smoothly removing all the hurdles from the way to the Film Industry.

Sikri played many roles in drama serials, telefilms, and soaps. Her latest release Badhai Ho proved to be her iconic platform. She got much fame and recognition after this blockbuster film. This film earned about ₹221 crores as a profit and it was ranked at the ninth highest-grossing movie of 2018. This film won four awards including Sikri’s award for the best supporting role.

She had a brain tumor at the end of 2018 and the media was not aware of it. She didn’t leak the news of this trauma and reconciled herself by showing slight improvements. She unveiled about her illness to media after 10 months in an event. She narrates that she had a fall due to some clot spotted in her brain. She was feeling that she was badly hit on furniture during the shooting of a movie.

She spoke in an interview that her younger sister was keen to enter this industry field and Sikri wanted to become a journalist. Due to some reasons, her sister’s mind was changed and her mother insisted Sikri go for the auditions. This was how she entered the showbiz.

A doyen, Sikri, is undoubtedly a Diva to the showbiz industry. After her illness, she is not able to do any more work now. She is not only the best in her acting rather she is the kind-hearted and passionate lady. She had shown the world that she is able to withstand all the hardships that came in her life with courage.
