Zoe Yadira Saldaña Nazario (born on June 19, 1978) in Passaic, New Jersey, U.S. She is an American actress.
Career
Saldaña made her first performance debut with the theater group called Faces. She began her acting career in 1999. Saldaña made her television debut in the episodes of Law & Order (1990, TV series). She started her film career a year later, performed as a ballet dancer in Center Stage (2000).
Saldaña began working in science fiction films with her first of multiple appearances as Nyota Uhura in the Star Trek film series. She also made her first appearance as Neytiri in the Avatar film series. She performed the major role of Gamora in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starting with Guardians of the Galaxy (2014).
Later, she appeared in three of the five highest-earning films of all time Including, Avatar (2009), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019). The blockbuster science fiction films are something no other actor or actress has done. Her science fictions films earned more than $11 billion worldwide. Which made her the second highest-earning film actress of all time as of 2019.
She grew up bilingual, speaking English and Spanish, and has two sisters, named Cisely and Mariel. She discovered her love of dance in the Dominican Republic, where she lived with her mother after her father died in a vehicle wreck. Then she joined the ECOS Espacio de Danza Academy, studying forms of dance. Ballet dance is the passion, she stated.
