Dalip Tahil is an actor, hailing from India and works in the Bollywood film and entertainment industry. He has worked in several movies, television serials, and theatre plays and earned huge acclaim throughout his career. He attended Sherwood College and later, he studied from Aligarh Muslim University. He did graduation from St. Xavier’s College. And after completing his studies, he moved into the acting line and started his career.
Initially, Dalip Tahil appeared on stage during his studies. It was the time when he was just 10 years old. He took part in various school competitions over the years. He used to take part in choir, competitions, elocution, plays, and formal and informal concerts as well. During his studies, he won the Kendall Cup for the best actor in theatre plays “My Three Angels” and “Shakespeare’s Macbeth”.
He joined the theatre group and got trained under the guidance and supervision of directors, like; Alyque and Pearl Padamsee. He worked in some productions and also appeared in commercials as well. Also, he appeared in the play “Man Is a Man” which is Amal Alana’s production of Bertolt Brecht. However, he performed in more than 500 shows until 2002 at the Apollo Theatre, London.
He has made his career broad in multiple domains, like; acting, theatre, television, and music as well. When he moved into movies, he initially met a famed director Shyam Benegal who offered him a role in his first feature film named “Ankur” which was released in 1974.
In 1980, another director, Ramesh Sippy cast him as a villain in his epic production “Shaan” which was followed by a cameo in Sir Richard Attenborough’s Gandhi in 1982.
Since then, he frequently appeared in a large number of movies and made himself a successful actor in the Hindi cinema. He has worked in more than 100 Bollywood movies and some of his most popular movies are “Baazigar”, “Talash”, “Maine Dil Tujhko Diya”, and the list goes on. He has worked in movies from the 1980s to 2013.
Apart from this, he has worked in English movies “The Deceivers” and “The Perfect Murder” and both were released in 1988. Also, Dalip Tahil dropped a music album named “Raaz Ki Baaten”.
However, he has worked in a large number of film and television projects and became popular among his fans. Mostly, he played negative roles and also played some positive as well.
