Geeta Bali (late) was a famed Indian actress who predominantly worked in the Bollywood film industry and acted in various movies from 1942 to 1965. She was born in 1930 and died in the year 1965. She was the daughter of Harkirtan Kaur and the wife of the famed, veteran actor, Shammi Kapoor. Geeta Bali was considered as one of the expressive actresses of Hindi cinema for her amazing acting prowess. She was born in Sargodha, Punjab, India, and later moved to Mumbai where she took the start of her career.

Career

At the age of 12, Geeta Bali took the start of her career with a debut movie “The Cobbler” as a child star. She made her adult debut with the movie “Badnaami” which was released in the year 1946. In the movie, she appeared as the lead actress. During the 1950s, she had worked alongside her future brother-in-law Raj Kapoor in the movie “Bawre Nain”. Also, she worked alongside her future father-in-law Prithviraj Kapoor in the movie “Anand Math”. It is popular that the majority of actresses quit the acting after the wedding but Geeta Baali was the one who didn’t quit the film industry and continued working in the film industry till her death. From 1942 to 1965, she had worked in more than 70 movies for which she got huge acclaim and praise from fans and viewers. When she married into the Kapoor family, she didn’t leave her career and kept entertained her fans and followers with her amazing acting prowess. While she was last seen in the movie “Jabse Tumhe Dekha Hai” which was released in the year 1963.

Personal Life

In 1955, she got married to Shammi Kapoor with whom she worked in the movie “Coffee House”. The couple is blessed with two kids- a son named Aditya Raj Kapoor, and a daughter Kanchan.

Death

In 1965, Geeta Baali died as she got smallpox while shooting a Punjabi movie “Rano” which was directed by Rajinder Singh Bedi.
