Orlando Jonathan Blanchard Copeland Bloom aka Orlando Bloom (born on 13 January 1977) in Canterbury, Kent, England. He is an English actor.

He studied acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

Career

Bloom is best known for his role as Legolas in The Lord of the Rings (2001-2003, film series), a role he reprised in The Hobbit (2012-2014, film series). He gained further attention, appearing in epic fantasy, historical, and adventure films, notably as Will Turner in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. The franchise has earned over $4.5 billion worldwide and it is the 14th-highest-grossing film series of all time.

He appeared in Hollywood films such as Paris in the epic historical war film Troy (2004). Also, he appeared as Balian de Ibelin in the Kingdom of Heaven (2005). He starred in the Amazon Prime Video Carnival Row (2019, TV series).

Bloom also starred in a Broadway adaption of Romeo and Juliet in 2013. He was named a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2009. In 2015, he earned the BAFTA Britannia Humanitarian Award.

He has an older sister named Samantha Bloom. He received his primary education from St Peter’s Methodist School in Canterbury, England. Bloom then attended the junior school of the King’s School before moving to St Edmund’s School in Canterbury. He began acting professionally with television roles in Midsomer Murders (1997, TV series). He finally made his film debut in Wilde (1997).
