Fouzia Azeem who is professionally known as Qandeel Baloch was a famous Pakistani social media celebrity, actress, model, and activist. She was born on 1st March 1990 in Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab. Baloch was best known for her videos on the social media in which she discussed her daily routine, various controversial issues of society and her rights as a Pakistani woman. Apart from social celebrities, she was also the internet celebrities and was one of the top ten-person searched on internet after her audition in the “Pakistan Idol” singing competition show.

Baloch belongs to an underprivileged family. She has six siblings, including four brothers and two sisters. Qandeel got married to the Aashiq Hussain in 2008 at the age of 17, and was blessed with a son. But she had left her husband after one year and moved from there to acquire her acting career. On 15 July 2016, when Qandeel Baloch was asleep at her parents’ home, was first drugged and then asphyxiated by her brother M. Waseem in Multan

Baloch’s first job was a bus hostess. Later on, she got her fame by her social media posts which included her pictures, videos, and comments. Her most popular videos and posts were, “How em luking?” (How am I looking?), and “Maire sar mai pain ho raha hai” (I’m getting a headache) videos in a very funny and catchy tone and her promise to strip dance for her followers and to dedicate her dance to the cricketer Shahid Afridi if Pakistan won the Twenty20 match against India hold on 19 March 2016. She gained overnight fame due to her catchphrases and posts which became viral within the few. She also released a teaser on the social media for the Twenty20 match, which became viral. Unforthunility, Pakistan lost that match moment.

She has also featured a dubbing social media site, dubsmash due to her dubbing features international media compared her to an American actress, Kim Kardashian. Whereas Indian media compared her with Poonam Pandey due to her controversial act while Twenty20 match. Baloch was also usually discussed and appeared in the Pakistani talk shows during 2014 because she spent her life against the norm of society. She has worked as a digital manager at Neptune Web Solutions.

Baloch was suspended from his position by Pakistani religious committees, due to her meeting with a well-known senior Mufti Abdul Qawi, in at a hotel to know about his faith. She took some snapshots with Mufti while their meeting. Their pictures became viral on social media. Her popularity rose to prominence due to her controversial acts and western lifestyle. Now, she appeared on many popular Pakistani TV political shows with senior anchors, such as in Mubashir Lucman shows and debated by religious scholars in many other talk shows.

She has also made a voice on women’s position in Pakistani society with the help of her powerful position on social media. She released a music video “Ban”, before the few weeks of her death. According to Baloch, many TV shows calls her to feature in their shows to increase their ratings.

Baloch made his debut in various drama serials, such as on PTV “Muhabbat Wehm Hay” starred with Abid Ali and Fiza Ali. Another hit drama of Baloch was,”Shaher” which was aired on A Plus.
