Suresh Raina is a renowned Indian cricketer. A fearless middle-order left-handed batter and a part-time off-spin bowler, he is also considered amongst one of the best fielders in the world of cricket. Suresh Raina plays for Uttar Pradesh in all formats of local cricket. He was the vice-captain of Chennai Super Kings in IPL, as well as the captain of Gujarat Lions. He has also leaded Indian team and is the second-youngest cricketer to lead India. Suresh Raina has emerged as the first Indian batter to hit a century under all three forms of international cricket.
In July 2005, Suresh Raina made his first ODI debut opposite Sri Lanka when he was only 19 years old. Though, his Test debut came around five years later against the similar opponent. He scored a century on his first Test debut. Suresh was a prominent part of Indian team that won World Cup 2011.
Suresh Raina was born in Muradnagar, India on November 27, 1986. He has three brothers named Naresh Raina, Mukesh Raina and Dinesh Raina as well as a sister named Renu.
In the year 2000, Suresh Raina decided to emerge as a famous cricketer and consequently headed from his hometown Muradnagar, to Lucknow, with the sole intention of joining Guru Gobind Singh Sports College. He appeared as the captain of Uttar Pradesh U-16s and came into limelight amongst Indian selectors in the year 2002 after he was nominated at his 15 years of age as well as a half years for U-19 England tour, wherein he made a duo of half-centuries in U-19 Test tournaments.
Suresh Raina also toured Sri Lanka with U-17 squad. In February 2003, he made his first Ranji Trophy debut for Uttar Pradesh opposite Assam when he was only 16 years old though did not play a new match till the following season. In the year 2003, Raina toured to Pakistan for U-19 ODI Championship prior being elected for U-19 World Cup 2004, wherein he scored three half-hundreds, covering a 90 scored out of 38 balls. In the year 2017, Suresh Raina did not maintain to remain a consistent fixture in Indian squad and was dropped from Annual BCCI Retainership.
