Waris Ahluwalia is a Sikh American designer and actor based in NYC. He is the founder of the House of Waris in The Orchard Townhouse. He has collaborated with several other designers and artists throughout the years. House of Waris came into being after the owners of Maxfield’s in L.A. noticed Ahluwalia’s fancy diamond rings and placed an order, which sold out.
Waris Ahluwalia was born in Amritsar, Punjab, but his family moved to the United States when he was only 5. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He is based in NYC but has also lived in Los Angeles. Ahluwalia made his film debut in Wes Anderson’s 2004 film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou as Vikram Ray, alongside Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Anjelica Huston, and Cate Blanchett.
Waris Ahluwalia’s played a temporary role in Wes Anderson’s critically praised The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014). He appeared in Deepa Mehta’s film Beeba Boys (2015), starring Randeep Hooda, where Ahluwalia played Manny.
In 2010, Ahluwalia is best recognized among the International Best-Dressed List’s honorees by Vanity Fair. On March 24, 2006, he appeared as Vikram Walia in Spike Lee’s crime thriller film Inside Man alongside Denzel Washington. His other film credits include Wes Anderson’s adventure drama films The Darjeeling Limited (2007) and Hotel Chevalier (2007).
