Career Journey

Nikki Bedi began the journey of her career in Mumbai. She was spotted by the UK’s Channel 4. Nikki hosted Bombay Chat which is an on-location celebrity talk show. Star TV gave Nikki Bedi a primetime slot for Nikki Tonight which ultimately became the most controversial yet widely watched talk show of Asia. However, the show was called off by Star TV when a gay rights activist, Ashok Row Kavi made some derogatory remarks about Mahatma Gandhi.

Before returning to the UK in 2000, Bedi moved to live and work in Los Angeles. She also hosted two live film shows, for NOW, Worldwide Screen, and Bollywood Today and became the face of Universal’s film for over two years. Her career journey seems like a complete adventure and year by year she gained success with instant popularity. Nikki Bedi began working in radio in 2003 and appeared on LBC and BBC Radio 4. In 2004, she became the host of a new weekend morning program named Hot Breakfast on the BBC Asian Network. Nikki took control of another weekday afternoon show in 2005.

In 2006, the bright career journey of Nikki Bedi began as she was given her own show called Nikki Bedi on the BBC Asian Network. Her regular show featured music, books, arts, and all things cultural including interviews of the most influential figures from all over the world.

Nikki Bedi has been associated with BBC Radio 4 for several years has become a regular interviewer on Loose Ends, presenting the show when usual host Clive Anderson was absent and she has also occasionally presented Woman’s Hour. In 2020, Bedi became co-host of Saturday Live alongside Richard Coles.

Achievements

Nikki Bedi was the judge of The Costa Book Awards for the New Novel category which was announced in January 2010. She has been also on the Judging panel for the One World Media Awards and the European Independent Film Festival Awards.
