Supriya Pathak Kapur is a film, television, and stage actress, hailing from India. She is mainly working in Bollywood cinema and also known for the role of Hansa Parekh in the most-watched Indian television serial “Khichri”. She is also known for her role of Dhankor Baa in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial “Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela”. She was born on 7th January 1961, Gujarat, India. She is the daughter of Dina Pathak, who was a kathiyawadi Gujarati theatre artist, and an iconic actor. Supriya Pathak got her education from J.B Vaccha High School and also earned a bachelors degree from the University of Mumbai.

Career

Supriya Pathak started her career journey under the supervision of her mother’s direction of the play named “Maina Gurjari”. The play’s script was based on the French Playwright “Moliere”. While the play was staged at the Prithvi Theatre.

Supriya Pathak also appeared in the movie “Kalyug” which was released in 1981. The film was an adaptation of the “Mahabharata”. In the movie, she played the role of Subhadra for which she won her Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. She then appeared in “Vijeta” which was released in 1982.

In 1982, she worked in another movie named “Bazaar” and later appeared in “Masoom” which was released in 1983. In 1985, Supriya Pathak appeared in the movie named “Mirch Masala”. However, she has acted in various movies for which she got acclaimed and also praised by everyone.

In 1988, the most-talented actress appeared in the movie French Film- “The Bengali Night”. While she also made an appearance in the movie “Raakh” which was released in 1989.

Apart from this, she also appeared on television and gave amazing performances in best-loved serials, such as; “Khichri”, “Baa Bahu Aur Babay”, “Ek Mahal Ho Sapnon Ka”, and others are worth sharing to watch.

In 1994, she along with her husband Pankaj Kapur launched their own Television Production House, Grass Company, and produced their first serial “Mohandas B.A.L.L.B.

In 2005, she also appeared in the movie named “Sarkar” which later became a sequel “Sarkar Raj” and released in 2008. Likewise, she appeared in several hit movies and television serials for which she earned huge recognition.

Achievements

Among various notable achievements, Supriya Parekh won the Filmfare Award for the movie “Kalyug” for the category of Best Supporting Actress.
