Neelima Azeem is an Indian actress, writer, and classical dancer. She is the mother of the most acclaimed actors Shahid Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter. She is also known for playing roles in television series.
Her father Anwar Azeem is a well-known Marxist journalist and Urdu author from Bihar, and her mother Khadija was a relative of Khwaja Ahmad Abbas. She studied Kathak and classical dance forms and also trained under Birju Maharaj and Munna Shukla.
Career
Neelima Azeem acted in both Hindi language films and television series. She also has done several historical dramas and movies. She is mainly known for appearing in ‘Phir Wahi Talash’.
Among other acting credits, she is notable for Amrapali, The Sword of Tipu Sultan, and Junoon. For her performances, Azeem gained much popularity in her career life.
In 2014, Neelima Azeem also performed at the Panch Tatva annual Kathak festival which was organized by Birju Maharaj’s Kalashram at Bhartiya Vidya Campus in Mumbai.
Neelima Azeem is also famous for working in the Hindi movie named ‘Sadak’ in which she played a supporting role opposite Deepak Tijori. While Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt played leading roles.
Personal life
In 1979, Neelima Azeem married the well-known actor Pankaj Kapoor but later, they parted their ways. Later, she married Rajesh Khatter with whom she has a son named Ishaan who is also an actor. While Shahid Kapoor is from his ex-husband.
