Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi interfaced with individuals from the film industry on Saturday, 19th October 2019, in the Capital, and a few of Bollywood’s top stars were attended at the occasion. The main focus was on welcoming the film industry to make movies and network shows that purposefully promote Mahatma Gandhi and Gandhism, to stamp the 150th birth commemoration of the Father of the Nation.
“Gandhi is synonymous with effortlessness. His musings resound far and wide. The intensity of innovativeness is monstrous, and it is basic to bridle this soul of imagination for our country. A few people from the world of films and TV have been doing extraordinary work with regards to promoting the goals of Mahatma Gandhi,” Modi said during his speech.
Our film and entertainment industry is diverse and vibrant.
Its impact internationally is also immense.
Our films, music and dance have become very good ways of connecting people as well as societies.

“I might want to thank the Prime Minister for uniting all of us, that too for a reason, like this. I feel we have to re-acquaint Gandhi Ji with India and the world. The film industry can get self-fixated and it is significant we make work that isn’t just about business,” said Shah Rukh, about the need of the business to approach and make films on Gandhi that can help in the country’s development process.
Thank u @narendramodi for hosting us & having such an open discussion on #ChangeWithin & the role artistes can play in spreading awareness of the msgs of The Mahatma. Also the idea of a University of Cinema is extremely opportune! pic.twitter.com/kWRbNk3xzo
Said Aamir, about the connection session with the Prime Minister: “It was a magnificent communication we had with the Prime Minister today. He was rousing, exceptionally warm and somewhere down in what he needed to state. I need to value the PM for contemplating this exertion. As inventive individuals, there is a lot of we can do, and I guarantee the PM that we will do considerably more.”
Hardly any photos from the occasion began coursing on social media and numerous stars received backlash for indiscriminately encouraging the head’s falsehoods.
I have scoffed at, condescended to, and lectured people for so much as uttering a word about Bollywood. It is low art. It is an assault on one's intelligence and refinement.
It is also a vehicle for India's colonial project in Kashmir, its rabid jingoism, and Hindutva fascism. pic.twitter.com/BDTzokNDGs
