Ushna Shah is a Canadian-born Lollywood actress of television and cinema who was born on 12th February 1990 in Toronto, Canada. She is the daughter of veteran actress Ismat Tahira, half-sister of famous actress Irsa Ghazal and sister of a famous director Shah Sharabeel. She loves acting, writing, and animal. She is a lover of acting since her childhood therefore at the age of just six years she hosted a radio show in Ratio Punjab. After doing middle school, Ushna moved to Pakistan to complete her O’ Level. Then she again went back to Canada to complete her higher school level. Ushna attended Yoke University, Canada in the pursuit of her higher education. Due to her passion for acting, she decided to drop out of the university and came back to Pakistan where she started her acting career.

Career Journey

Shah started her career as a TV actress in a romantic series “Mere Khwabon Ka Diya” with co-actor/actress Danish Taimoor and Sajal Ali in 2013. The drama was based on the story of a middle-class family that faces financial crises when the only supporter of the family has expired in an accidental death. Ushna rose to prominence after her portrayal in a thriller mega serial named “Bashar Momin” starred with Faisal Qureshi in 2014. In this act, Ushan plays the role of an innocent girl Rudaba opposite a money launderer Busher Momin, acted by Faisal Qureshi. It was the highest-paid drama in Pakistan. It was her first critical success which proved to be a turning point in her acting career and Shah started to play a lead actress role in various dramas and films in the showbiz industry.

She got further popular after her portrayal as a negative character in a Sufi spiritual series known as “Alif Allah Aur Insaan” with Mikaal Zulfiqar, Kubra Khan, which was aired on Hum TV in 2017. This serial was based on a novel of the same name. This serial revolves around the stories of five different people of different backgrounds, faith, and conviction. It was the highest-rating serial at that time. In 2018 she was best known for her negative character in a psychological thriller drama serial “Balaa” which starred Bilal Abbas Khan, Azekah Daniel, and Samina Peerzada. The series told a story of a limping girl who slowly finishes everyone on her way to gaining prosperity.

She also made her film debut in a Lollywood action-comedy, the romantic film “Teri Meri Love Story” in the leading role of Esha with co-actor/actress, Mohib Mirza, Omar Shahzad, and Uzma Khan in 2016. The movie revolves around Esha, a beautiful TV host, and Sherry, a mischievous boy. Later on, she also acted in another comedy film “Oye Kuch Kar Guzar” powered by D-juice Pakistan. It was the first online Pakistani movie and Ushna played the role of Zara with Ali Safina as Sherry. This movie was released in 2016 on YouTube.

Achievements

Her famous drama “Mere Khwabon Ka Diya” that earned her a 4th Pakistan Media Awards for Best Emerging Talent Female at the 4th Pakistan Media Awards ceremony. She also got the Hum Award for Best Negative Character at the 6th Hum Awards for “Alif Allah Aur Insaan”.
She also gave her best performance in a soap series “Hum Tehray Gunahgar” for which she received Hum Awards for Best Actress in 2015. She has also nominated for the best television actress for her negative performance in “Bala” at Lux Style Awards.
