8 Things You Didn’t Know About Elijah Wood

1. His Best Role Is Frodo Baggins

Given all of the roles he’s played throughout his career, you’d think he’d choose something else, but Frodo appears to be the one character that he thought nailed it in terms of being epic enough to label his crowning moment. [1]

2. Youngest Hobbit In LOTR

This is quite amusing because in the novel, Frodo is around 50 years old when he ultimately leaves the Shire, yet in the film, he still appears to be a young man at best. Perhaps hobbits simply do not age as quickly as other people. [2]

3. He Doesn’t Like Godzilla

You could make the joke that hobbits don’t like enormous, dragon-like things, but it might fall flat because Bilbo is the only hobbit to have seen a dragon in the entire LOTR saga that we’ve seen. Still, some people hate Godzilla for various reasons.

4. Elijah Impress Peter Jackson To Play Frodo Baggins

Even Jake Gyllenhaal seemed to have been competing for the role of Frodo, but Elijah managed to wow Peter Jackson just enough to land the role. It’s difficult to imagine someone else playing Bilbo at this time because Elijah did such a terrific job and almost established the character.

5. Few Different Roles He Was Offered

He was even given first consideration for the role of Richie Rich, which ultimately went to Macaulay Culkin, his former co-star. He was even rumoured to be first in line to play Eragon at one point, but of course, that didn’t happen. The tale was kind of a non-starter once it was adapted for the big screen, so it’s probably for the best that it didn’t.

6. His Love For Music

Elijah acknowledges that he has thousands of CDs in his collection that span many different genres since he is so infatuated with it and finds it difficult to choose. Simian Records is his own record company.

7. He Nearly Opted Out Of The Faculty

The Faculty was released at a time when the teen scream craze was just about to fade, and it kind of tried to profit from a genre that was still popular but was soon turned into something that people laughed at rather than shouted over. The Faculty was a brilliant idea in many aspects, but after a while into the film, the execution kind of fell flat.

8. His Favourite Book Is Hobbit

It’s difficult to determine if he read it before or after being cast in the LOTR movie, but if he did, it looks as though it was meant for him to portray Frodo. [3]
